Edging out last weekend's victor by a slim margin, "Footloose" has danced its way to the top of the box office over the weekend of October 14-16, 2011.
The Julianne Hough/Kenny Wormald led classic remake garnered a solid $5.7 million on opening day while forecasted to wind up with a $17 million debut weekend.
Knocked down a peg from its previous box office topping perch was the Hugh Jackman starring sci-fi/drama, which raked in another $4.6 million on Friday while expected to clock in with a $16 million weekend total.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals were theater newcomer "The Thing" ($9 million), followed by "The Ides of March" ($7.5 million) and "Dolphin Tale" ($6.5 million).
